Polar Express and Marshmallow Hot Chocolate Milkshake

When the weather turns chilly and Jack Frost has left his little icy footprints in the grass and there is a nip in the air, nothing is better than a mug of hot chocolate! Especially when there is a song about hot chocolate!

I am totally addicted to these new limited edition Marshmallow Hot Chocolate Pop Tarts are my favorite new addiction. I bought 4 boxes so far!
So if you haven't figured it out yet... I didn't just make hot chocolate. I made a Marshmallow Hot Chocolate Pop Tart Milkshake!

It is just a perfect beginning to winter. The pop tarts were toasted, cooled and crumbled up so it was a thick milkshake but not chewy. The milkshake was really addictive! The cocoa was perfect in the vanilla ice cream. I wish I had made graham cracker smore's to eat with the milkshake, but I forgot marshmallows. Boo!
Even without the smore's this milkshake was rich, sweet and the perfect way to welcome winter!

Marshmallow Hot Chocolate Ice Cream Shake
a Calamity Kate original recipe
serves 4

3 scoops vanilla or chocolate ice cream
3 packets hot chocolate mix
2 Marshmallow Hot Chocolate Pop Tarts, toasted and cooled
1 cup milk
1 cup ice (optional)
cocoa powder

In a blender mix milk and cocoa powder. Add in ice cream and ice. Toss in the cooled pop tarts and blend for 30 to 50 seconds. If you like a very thick shake add in 1 additional pop tart.

Pour into 4 tall glasses and add in a straw. Sprinkle with cocoa powder.
